I am literally THE worst at keeping secrets…just ask my husband, I usually tell him his Christmas present a few days after I buy it because I can’t handle the pressure. I cannot believe I have managed to keep this one quiet for so long!
After 5 years of creating recipes, making friends, and sharing stories here on Beard & Bonnet I have decided it is time for a much-needed change. You see, when I started blogging I never really thought about the fact that one day this might become my full-time job. I just knew I loved creating recipes and as strange as it sounded back then I really liked to take pictures of the food that I made, so starting a blog seemed like the best way to share those recipes with our family and friends.
Over the years this blog grew faster than we ever expected. It has turned from my solo hobby into a small family business that all 4 of us participate in creating. My husband, Todd helps with the back end of the site and keeps things operating smoothly. He now photographs most of the beautiful recipes that we bring to you each week and our kids help me with taste testing recipes and new products. Heck, they’re all even hand models from time to time!
Just like the site grew and changed over the last 5 years in ways I could have never anticipated the way that I cook changed in unexpected ways over the years too! Our little family table is now an eclectic mix of gluten-free-ers, vegetarians, dairy free-ers and meat eaters. It’s a bit of a mess. The needs of our dinner table change from day to day depending on who’s home when, so I’ve spent a lot of time over the years developing easy mealtime strategies that work for my family’s needs.
As I have been watching my family’s meal time needs change over time I started talking to everyone I could about what dinner really looked like at their family table and you know what I learned? Most of you are like us, an eclectic mix of dietary needs and preferences that all come together around one family table. Chances are meal times are a bit of a mess, but you love it!
For the last 2 years, we have worked to build a site that served the needs of the modern family table and we are over the moon excited to share our new cozy corner of the internet with you, This Mess Is Ours!
Aside from the gluten free, vegetarian recipes you are used to seeing here on B & B, This Mess Is Ours offers easy ways to swap up your meals depending on what dietary needs you have sitting around your table.
One of my favorite parts of our new site is the recipe index; with over 500 recipes searching B&B was really a difficult task, but on This Mess Is Ours you can sort recipes by season, meal type, dietary preference, and even ingredient making finding the answer to the question “What’s for dinner?” easier than ever to answer!
This Mess Is Ours also offers an entire section that focuses on the home! We are really excited to have a place to channel our creativity as artists and designers to share decorating and cleaning tips as well as homemade remedies and my crazy cookbook collection.
Lastly, I wanted you to know how much you mean to us! We could have never imagined where this journey would take us and we are so grateful to have the opportunity to do what we love every day with all of you. Over the course of the next few weeks as we settle into our new home we will be changing all of our social media accounts and will begin adding our new recipes and lifestyle posts solely to This Mess Is Ours and once we have everything unpacked in its new home Beard & Bonnet will be retired forever. We’ve loved sharing stories with you here over the last 5 years and we hope to share our family’s stories with you for many years to come on our new site.
